Just returned from Silk Route through Rucksack from 22nd to 27th Jan'2018..Plan was from NJP to Aritar - Zuluk - Nathang n kupup n Padamchen - Rolep - Baghdogra. Trip was really a memorable one. We got snow fall at zuluk but due to that we could not reach till nathang n kupup as heavy fog n snowfall but we reached till thambi which is also a great viewpoint. This was 1st snowfall of this season so we are lucky enough to get the same. Driver given to us was a fantastic guide cum driver. Overall in a nutshell it was a great n very good organized trip planned by Rucksack and made our trip really memorable. ..will update few snaps n tag Rucksack for sure...

It’s a wonderful place, definitely worth staying for 2 to 3 days. It’s owned by a lovely couple. The Aritar lake flows beside the homestay and adds to the beauty of the place. The rates are very reasonable in comparison to the comfort they provide here. The forest ambiance definitely multiplies the pleasure and enjoyment. Above all, the warm and polite hospitality of the couple will compel you to visit again. The sweetness of the place is bound to linger for years and I can bet on that. Cheers!!!

View and roads are mind blowing. Seems like you are close to God. I got tremendous Snow through out the road and had to come down and stay in Zuluk . Its is advisable to Stay in Zuluk and on your way to Old baba mandir get down and spent some time here. Home stays are available but advisable to stay after April as health Issue might creep any time because of the Altitude. But if you are fit enough and dont need that much of or an expediter like me then Nathang is a Must stay to feel and enjoy its beauty.

The valley is beautiful during the months of January to April, when its fully covered with snow. Situated at an altitude of almost 13,000 feet, with no trees around. Not much activities to do, only enjoy sun snow and the mighty hills around. The area is complete controlled by Indian Army and BRO. During other months, it is extremely rough and looks like a mountain desert. If you are visiting from Aritar, you have to stop several times to watch the breathtaking views of mighty Kanchanjungha from several view points. Don't forget to taste of local Momos and thukpa from local restaurants.

Situated at an altitude of more than 10200 ft. , this resort gives a homely feeing to the visitors. Water supply from tap is unavailable due to the sub zero temperature. The custodians supply hot water on demand. Washrooms can give a not so happy feeling to some who are not accustomed to compromising with water supply and space crunch. Food is standard. The staff are nice. We booked rooms at Nathang. You may face severe high altitude sickness like breathing trouble for which you must take precautions. They provide blowers to tolerate the sub zero temperature but you can feel unease of not having proper supply of oxygen. One night stay is fine here. More than that is not advised. You can find Himalayan Monal here. This is your prize of stay at Zuluk other than the mesmerizing view of Kanchenjunga and an enigmatic sunrise which you can see from a vantage point which is 4km away.

Highest night stay point in Silk Route. A must stay point.Calm and quite valley. Surrounded by army set up. Quite cold (We stayed in 4 to 5 degree centigrade in mid May). There are numbers of home stays. But better to have a prior booking. Points of tourist attractions are - Srikrishna Mandir, War memmorial and a Monestry. All are within walk-able distance except Thambi View Point. You need to book a vehicle for going to Thambi View Point to see sunrise. This trip is not included in the silk route package. Eagle's nest bunker - another point of tourist attraction near Nathang.

Since the very first day of the tour was Aritar the old silk route, I knew it is not a regular one. We reached the village early. The route to Zuluk is quite offbeat and I must say that the Eastern Sikkim is the greenest of all. We stayed in a hotel in Zuluk on Day three which overlooked the Kanchenjunga range and out of all the places I have been to, this was the best views of the entire range. The drive to Nathang was not at all smooth but as we were ascending to an elevation, the view was just getting better. Our permits and entry were looked after by the driver, visited valleys like Gnathang Valley, and Tukla Valley.

On the second day of our Silk Route Trip, at early morning,we moved from Aritar towards Padamchen. We stayed at Padamchen for two days. There are a few sight seeing point and Nathang valley is one of them. It is located at an altitude of 13,500 feet along Silk Route in East Sikkim. Nathang valley is one of the scenic offbeat destination in East Sikkim. The panoramic view all around is awesome with snow capped mountains and valleys. Stayed there 2 Nights.
